| "Climb the Volcanos of Ecuador" (12 days / 11 nights) This climbing trip will take you along the beautiful Avenue of the Volcanoes to ascend the main volcanoes of Ecuador: Corazon, North Illiniza, Cotopaxi Volcano and Chimborazo volcano. Andes Adventures provides professional mountain guides, transportation, food, communal climbing gear and other additional services if requiered. Day 1 & 2: Your arrival in the city of Quito at 2800m. Here we will spend 2 days visiting the city and getting acclimatized to the altitude. Day 3: Starting from Quito City we head south towards the highlands of Corazon Volcano. This 4788 m (15,705 ft). summit offers a nice opportunity for acclimatization while enjoying great views of the Machachi valley and the surrounding mountains: Illinizas, Rumiñahui, Sincholagua and Cotopaxi Volcano. Overnight in a nice local hacienda. Day 4: Morning transport towards the foothills of Illiniza Volcano. This beautiful mountain has two peaks. Our goal will be to climb the rocky northern peak. Camp on La Virgen at 3800m (12464ft). Day 5: Early start towards the coll between North and South Illiniza and from there we will climb the summit of the northern peak (5120m/16794ft). Descent and transport to our camp at 3800m (12464ft) on the foothills of Cotopaxi Volcano (5897m/19342 ft). Day 6: Our car will drive us up to 4600m to the parking lot from where a 1 hour hike will take us to the Rivas hut (4800m/15744ft). Overnight. Day 7/8: Midnight awake up to start our ascent towards the summit of one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. Climb will take around 6-7 hours and weather permiting we will enjoy magnificent views of the crater. Descend and transport to our hotel in Riobamba. Day 9: Chimborazo. Transport to the first refuge on Chimborazo. From here a 45 min hike will take us up to the Whymper hut at 5000m (16400 ft). Overnight . Day 10/11: Midnight climb to the summit of the Colosous of the Andes. The normal route climb will take aproximatly 8-9 hours to get to the summit (6310m). Descent to the refuge and transport down to the charming town of Baños for a well deserved rest in a local hotel. Day 11 will be used as a reserve day or transport back to Quito Day 12:Transport out to the airport in Quito for your flight back home. Please check our Fix Departure Tours. |
