| Trekking Carihuairazo & Chimborazo Volcanoes (7days/6nights) This Carihuairazo & Chimborazo Trekking adventure is an exclusive and spectacular Andes Adventures trip that will take us along great mountain ranges of the Carihuairazo (5020 m) and Chimborazo (6310 m) volcanoes. Our trek will end at the world famous Chimborazo Whymper hut at 5000m. Day 1: Transport to Tisaleo Village on the upperhills of the northeast side of Mount Carihuairazo. From here we start our 4 hour trek till we reach our first camp site on the San Antonio highlands. Day 2: San Antonio - Paramos de Hatillo: In our second day we will cross the beautiful Salasaca valley and then we will reach our first high mountain pass (4250m) from where we follow a narrow ridge down to our second camp at 3600m. Day 3: Paramos de Hatillo - Quebrada Abraspungo: This day we trek first to the Carboneria valley. Heading west we will reach the base of the east side of the volcano and trek up to our second high pass at 4300m just on the base of the impressive Mocha peak. Descend to our next camp located on the deep Abraspungo Gorge. Camp at 3700. Enjoy great views of Mount Chimborazo. Day 4: Quebrada Abraspungo - Isupapungo: Trekking west towards the huge plato located between the Carihuairazo and Chimborazo volcanoes. Enjoy great views of the glaciers of Chimborazo contrasting with the beautiful moorland grass of the lowerlands of Carihuairazo volcano. Camp(4100m) Day 5: Isupapungo - Pogyos Camp: We will start trekking along the high paramos of the north-west side of Chimborazo. The huge glaciers and the arid area of this side of the mountain is impressive. Camp at 4000 m. Day 6: Pogyos - Whymper refuge: From here we offer 2 alternatives: a) Long day trek towards Whymper refuge. This trek will take us up to a 5000 m pass and then descend to the refuge. b) We descend to the main road where our vehicle will take us up to the Carrel hut at 4800 m. Short trek to the Whymper refuge. Overnight in the hut at 5000 m. Day 7: After a relaxing morning we descend to the Carrel hut and transport back to Quito. Included: All meals during the trekking, professional mountain guide, camping equipment, cook, private transportation, entrance fees to parks and reserves, overnight in tents and huts. Not included: Personal trekking equipment, meals in cities, personal expenses. |
