Manu National Park

The Manu National Park is one of the most important tropical parks in the world, and was declared a "World Biophere Reserve" by UNESCO in 1977.
It is home to a many different ecological zones that descend from 4000 m / to 300 m. The Manu harbors unique wildlife, records of over one thousand species of birds, 200 species of mammals, many reptiles and 10% of the plants of our planet. Due to important differences in altitude, Manu covers several types of ecosystems, which enormously increases the biological diversity and the ecological floors.

Day 1: You will leave Cusco early in the morning by bus, passing andean valleys with their colorful inhabitants, towards Acjanacu at an altitude of 4000 m. From here starts your descent to the jungle situated below.
Day 2: Early in the morning you may be able to see the dance of the endemic bird, Cock of the Rock. After breakfast you will drive on eastwards to reach finally the village Atalaya, situated at an altitude of 400 m., near the river "Alto Madre de Dios". You will embark your boat to navigate down the river towards the stream of the Manu River.
Day 3: Navigate down the river to the private reserve of Blanquillo. Here we shall make a hike through the dense vegetation, crossing small streams and observing many insects, birds, monkeys and other jungle residents.
Day 4: Before breakfast you will pay a visit to Collpa, a salt lick visited by many birds like macaws, to feed themselves with the many minerals, provided by this lick. Afterwards  you will navigate further down the Manu River, observing the many animals like caimans, tapirs, capibaras, monkeys, etc.
Day 5: Early in the morning you can spot the wildlife from a nearby observation tower. Afterwards you will make a hike through the dense tropical rainforest.
Day 6: In the morning you will visit the Lake Salvador, to spot water animals such as the fathead and the black caiman. Afer lunch you will continue your trip in boat towards Limonal.
Day 7: After breakfast you will navigate back along Boca Manu towards Atalaya. Final camp and farewell dinner on this last jungle night.
Day 8: Return by bus to Cusco.
