Mount Cerro Plomo is a very good option to start a South American Chile climbing trip. It is located near to Santiago de Chile and offers a combination of beautiful landscapes with a soft climbing adventure ! Ojos del Salado Volcano climbing. (18days / 17 nights) Ojos del Salado is considered one of the highest active volcanoes in the world (6893 m) and it is the highest mountain in Chile. Located in one of the driest areas on the planet, the Atacama Desert, its ascent requires a very good physical condition, a well planned acclimatization program and good climbing equipment since this mountain is cold and windy. Our Ojos del Salado climbing program: Day1: Arrival in Santiago. Hotel. Day2: Visit Santiago. Hotel Day3: Flight to Copiapo. Transport to our first camp at 3700 m. at Santa Rosa Lagoon. Day4: Climb pick "Siete Hermanos" (5,000 m). Camp. Day5: Transport to Laguna Verde camp. Day6: Climb San Francisco volcano (6,010 m). Camp. Day7: Resting day. Day8: Transport to Atacama refuge at 5,100 m. Day9: Transport food and water up to the 5,750 m "Tejos" refuge. Day10: Resting day at Atacama hut. Day11: Hike to Tejos hut. Day12: First attempt to Ojos del Salado Volcano climbing. Day13: Second chance to summit Ojos del Salado (6893 m/22609 ft). Day14-15: Descend to Copiapo and then to Caldera town on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Hotel in Bahia Inglesa. Day16-17: Return to Santiago de Chile. Day18: Transfer out.
