How big is it: 756,626  square km.

Geographical situation: Chile is situated along the west coast of South America. It is bounded on the west by the Pacific Ocean, to the north by Perú and to the east by Bolivia and Argentina. To Chile´s south lies the Antarctic continent. Chile measures about 4200 km from north to south and, at its widest point , is only 180 km wide.

Regions and climate: Chile´s climate ranges from hot and dry in the north to very cold, wet and very stormy in the far south. The central areas have a mild Mediterranean climate with a wet season from May to August.

Population: The population of Chile is about 14.2 millions inhabitants.

Capital: Santiago with an approximate population of 4.5 million.

Language  and religion: Spanish in official language but English is fairly widely spoken. There are various Indian languages spoken by some, such as Aymara, Mapuche and Rapa Nui (the language of eastern island). About 90% are Roman Catholic.

Currency: Peso chileno.
